Home/NBA

Draymond Green of Warriors and Paul George of LA Clippers last played together in the same team when they were representing the USA Olympic Men’s Basketball team for Rio 2016. They won a Gold medal. Their names have again surfaced together after Draymond commented on Paul’s statement about his injuries.

PG was the 10th pick in the round 1 of 2010 NBA Draft. He had no major injury in the initial years, not until 2014 when he suffered from a broken leg as he landed wrongfully and suffered a tibia/fibula fracture while playing for Team USA. That 2014-15 season, he played just 6 games for the Indiana Pacers.

Draymond Green shows no sympathy for The LA Clippers forward Paul George

Paul George posted on his Instagram story, “Imagine y’all going thru 6 surgeries and still be standing. I promise the story would be different if that never happened!” Sports journalist Taylor Rooks tweeted about it too.

Golden State Warriors’ DrayMagic was not thrilled to read that quote. As per sports editor E. García Gundersen’s tweet, Draymond responded to it by saying, “PG can’t be talking about surgeries after that. Can’t be playing the sympathy card.”

Paul has had a series of health issues post-2017. He had calf contusion, a sore left knee. Later in 2018, he developed a right hip and quad contusion. Last year, he suffered through shoulder soreness and hamstring problems. He had to undergo major surgeries to repair a small labrum tear in his left shoulder and a partial supraspinatus tear in his right. The surgeries took place with a month’s gap. All this led to PG missing many regular games. But nothing that could justify itself and qualify for Draymond to sympathize.

The Golden State Warriors star and his recent trouble

The NBA recently put a fine of $50K on Draymond Green for violating the league’s anti-tampering rule. The outspoken star gave a very controversial comment on Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker. He praised Devin (who is averaging 26.4 points in the regular season) for playing so well in the Orlando Bubble. But he also said, “I need my man somewhere he can play great basketball all the time and win because he’s that type of player.”

Later on, he laughed off the fine that was perhaps too tiny for a man as successful as Draymond. GSW could not qualify for the season restart and probably that has given Draymond Green some time to make these controversial remarks.
