There is a sense of optimism for the New York Knicks. After playing second fiddle to their cross-town rivals, Brooklyn Nets, they are back in the news. And for the right reasons this time.
They made some savvy selections at the 2020 NBA draft. To get the highly rated prospect, Obi Toppin is a lottery for them. Looking to model his game after Anthony Davis, Toppin is also a lifelong Knicks fan. Finally, they get someone good that’s actually willing to play for them.
Carrying this positivity into free agency and trade window, the Knicks can really build a solid team if they play their cards right. They have approximately $40 million in cap space, meaning room for a marquee player.

“Now that he can have via free agency, that interest is still there and they have the cap space to offer him a multi-year deal.”

Before drafting LaMelo Ball, the Charlotte Hornets were looking at Russ as a trade option. Understandably, they now want to build around the youngest Ball boy. Russell wants out of Houston. The Knicks could very well provide him the escape road.
However, “Russell Westbrook hasn’t been traded yet. Word out of Houston was that Rockets were not in a rush to do anything.”
