Pelicans Teammate JJ Redick Elaborates on Why Zion Williamson Has NBA Hall of Famer Written Over Him

The New Orleans Pelicans suffered a terrible run in the Orlando Bubble. Their horrific performance in the seeding games sent them packing before they could even come close to the Playoffs. The only good thing we got to witness in their team was the rookie, Zion Williamson.

Ever since Williamson set foot on the basketball court, he has been winning hearts and fans. The No.1 overall pick acquired by the Pelicans is expected to be the next big thing in the NBA.

With that, the veteran player from the Pelicans see’s a very bright future ahead of Zion, just like everyone else. Pelicans’ shooting guard, J.J. Redick featured on “All The Smoke” with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson and expressed that he has reasons to believe Williamson will be a star.

Pelicans’ Zion Williamson, a Hall of Famer?

Before his monstrous debut with the Pelicans, Williamson missed out on a majority of the starting of his NBA career due to knee injuries. Keeping that in mind, Redick made it clear that if he remains healthy, then he can be a Hall of Famer.

“It’s All-NBA, All-Star, Hall of Fame. That’s his ceiling,” JJ Redick said about Zion Williamson. “The thing with Zion is that he’s naturally obviously athletic, but naturally skilled. So when he learns sort of how to play the NBA game and think the NBA game, he does it naturally. Without even putting the thought and the preparation that we all learn.” 

In his regular-season games alone, Williamson has 22.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists under his name. Not only that, but he also went shooting 58.3 percent from the field, 64 percent from the free-throw line, and going 42.9 percent beyond the arc.

With the Pelicans being led by the likes of Zion Williamson,  Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and Josh Hart, the sky is the limit. We can only hope we see a healthy Zion in the lineup next season.

As of now, the biggest concern for the Pelicans is finding a Head Coach. After relieving Alvin Gentry of his duties, Tyronn Lue and Mike D’Antoni are candidates that the Pelicans are on the lookout for.
