He then decided to leave the Warriors as a free agent and signed for the Brooklyn Nets.

Kevin Durant to the New York Knicks?
Durant moved to the Nets along with Kyrie Irving during the offseason. But as per Ian Begley of SNY, Durant would’ve joined the New York Knicks if he had not been injured during the finals.
He reports that certain members of the Knicks organization were confident about Kevin Durant joining their team during the offseason in 2019.

Even though he didn’t strongly consider the Knicks, he kept an eye on them when they traded Kristaps Porzingis to create salary-cap space to sign two big players, reports Begley.
What If It Had Happened?
Begley says, hypothetically if Durant had signed for the Knicks, he would’ve persuaded Irving to join him as well.
The Knicks would have gone on to have a much better season if both these players had joined the team.
Prior to the league’s suspension, the Knicks held a record of 21-45, ranking 12th in the Eastern Conference table. They hold the league’s sixth-worst record at the moment.

On the other hand, the Brooklyn Nets are flourishing in the Eastern Conference, standing seventh in the table. The Knicks have been impressive in the league so far. Even without their superstar signings playing a major part in them.
