The Los Angeles Lakers ended the 2019-20 season on a positive note as they clinched the NBA title. LeBron James and Anthony Davis were the backbones of the Los Angeles-based franchise’s impressive championship run.
However, there were still some glaring flaws in the Laker lineup. For starters, the team never had a certified third option to handle the scoring load in the absence of AD and LBJ from the floor. Luckily for the Lakers, veteran point guard Rajon Rondo stepped up in the playoffs for them.
Despite winning his second NBA title, many rumors suggest Rondo will opt out of his player option. In case he decides to leave the team, the Lakers will need a solid point guard to handle facilitating duties.

According to numerous rumors, the purple and gold are targeting veteran guard Derrick Rose. Although Rose is nothing close to his younger self, he still enjoyed an impressive season with the Detroit Pistons.
Rose averaged a solid 18.1 points per game while coming off the bench for most of the season. If the Lakers can convince the 31-year-old to come to the city of Los Angeles, he can become a terrific bench performer for them.
However, there is a possibility this is nothing but a rumor blown out of proportion by excited NBA fans. When Bleacher Report posted an image stating “D-Rose trade to Lakers ‘More Likely’ than last season.”
Rose’s wife Aliana Anderson posted laughing emoticons at this rumor.

This could mean that Rose has no plans to sign with the purple and gold. Moreover, D-Rose still has a year left on his contract with the Pistons.
If L.A. want to sign Rose, they would need to trade for him. It will be difficult for the 2020 NBA champions to put up a fair trade for both sides.

If Rose was in his MVP form, this would not even be a question, considering how Rose gave LeBron James’ Miami Heat a run for their money during his glory years. Moreover, Rose and James had already played together once with LBJ in Cleveland.
Although at the time, Rose was still struggling to find his groove, the duo didn’t look too attractive. Now Rose is definitely in a better place in his career and has remained injury-free for the majority of the last two seasons.

If Rose does decide to join the Lakers, it would mean he’ll be doing nothing more than ring chasing. But knowing Rose, this stunt would seem out of character for the former MVP.
But what do you think? Will Derrick Rose join another LeBron-led outfit or will this rumor die down with time?
