After another unsuccessful playoff run, it seems that the tenure of James Harden for the Rockets might end soon. The former MVP has already requested for a trade in order to start the next chapter of his career.
So far, Harden has revealed his desired destinations to be traded as the Brooklyn Nets or the Philadelphia 76ers. However, according to NBA insider Shams Charania, more teams have entered the race to land James Harden.
“Sources: James Harden now has the Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat among his preferred trade destinations, along with the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets.”

James Harden wanting to team up with Giannis Antetokounmpo at Milwaukee, despite their 2019 MVP Saga, comes as a total shock. The two clearly had some issues, with shots being fired directly and indirectly. However, it seems Harden has forgiven Giannis for the same and is now willing to team up to dethrone other NBA teams and solidify his legacy.
This is indeed a new turn of events in the Harden saga. It might mean that Harden’s exit is all but confirmed, but it is just a matter of time. The Rockets have already fulfilled Russell Westbrook‘s trade request a few days back.

As far as Harden’s situation is considered, his request might have been a direct result due to the Rockets making major changes in coaching and front office. Stephen Silas’ arrival would mean a change of playing style for the team. They will take up a more team-driven strategy instead of just running the offense through Harden.

If Harden is unhappy with the franchise, he will leave the team one way or another. If he decides to stop playing like Kawhi Leonard did with the Spurs, it would hurt Harden’s trade value. So trading him right when his value is what it is will be the best option for the Rockets.
For Harden, he is at that stage of his career where every bad playoff run will taint his legacy. As a result, making a move to win an NBA Championship right now must be the top priority for the Beard.

If the Bucks somehow pull off this trade, it could finally result in a championship campaign for them. But it is highly unlikely to happen, as they have already given up a lot to bring Jrue Holiday to Milwaukee.
Keeping that in mind, joining the Sixers is something that can take place. Philly have Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid to form a trade package for the Beard. Regardless, any team would be lucky to land Harden, who averaged a stunning 34.3 points per game last season and led the league in scoring for a third consecutive year.
