Kristaps Porzingis has been a revelation for the Dallas Mavericks in 2020. After an ACL tear sidelined him for about 18 months, Porzingis bounced back with the Mavericks. He was traded from the New York Knicks to Dallas, who gave him a massive 4-year contract extension despite him still being injured.
Porzingis has proven himself worth the money, forming a budding superstar duo with sophomore player Luka Doncic. Porzingis is averaging 24.2 points, 9.6 rebounds and almost two blocks in the 26 games he has played this year. In the first playoff game between the Clippers and the Mavericks, Porzingis was ejected after receiving two technical fouls. The ejection changed the game, as the Clippers made a comeback and won the game by __ points.
Tim McMahon is reporting that Porzingis might miss game two of the playoffs with a knee injury.

I’m told that Kristaps Porzingis is dealing with irritation in his right knee but hopes to play tonight. That is not the knee with the repaired ACL, but Porzingis missed 10 games in the middle of this season due to right knee soreness. https://t.co/VJ2NxCBNtu

While Porzingis is slowly developing a reputation as injury-prone, there is no doubting his skill. Porzingis had 14 points against the Clippers before his ejection. However, his impact was coming on the defensive end of the ball. His ejection meant that Luka Doncic will have to carry the team alone. He did so by breaking the playoff record for points by a debuting player, also becoming the third-youngest player to score over 40 points.

Porzingis and Doncic have the potential to become the best duo in the NBA. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has already expressed ad desire to keep the pair together for as long as possible. This season is just the beginning of the journey for this new-look Mavericks team. It would be unwise to risk Porzingis against the title-favorite Clippers, as the real success for Dallas lies in their future.
We can expect Porzingis to be on a minutes restriction, if he even gets a chance to see the floor.
