As the Golden State Warriors prepare to improve their standings in the NBA next season, the NBA Draft is an important time for them to make the right decisions.
Although their roster is expected to be healthy, they need more talent to improve their claim to the title. Many believe that their glory days aren’t over yet, and they can win several more championships with the right pieces.
The Golden State Warriors hold the second pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. However, many believe that they might be willing to trade their draft selections for a veteran player who will help bring in more experience to the roster, hopefully guiding them to another title. Thus, the player that they have in their sights is San Antonio Spurs’, LaMarcus Aldridge.

However, according to ESPN Insider Zach Lowe, this isn’t a smart decision for the Warriors. On his ‘The Lowe Post’ podcast he first narrated what he heard.
“Someone within the league today texted me, ‘Hey, there’s a little buzz about No.2 to San Antonio for LaMarcus Aldridge and No. 11,’” said Lowe.
“And obviously there’d have to be salary going out [for the Warriors]. And my response was, ‘That’s crazy. The Warriors should not do that. You don’t trade the No.2 pick for LaMarcus Aldridge’.”

The Golden State Warriors look desperate at this point. They are in a hurry to fill up the huge gaps in their roster before the 2020-21 NBA season begins in December.
However, the math does not fit in trading the No. 2 pick for Aldridge. With the veteran player estimated to make $24 million next season, the Warriors will have to let go of more players to match his salary.
If we just focus on his performance, the 35-year-old hasn’t performed like an All-Star in quite some time now. Although his stats are incredible for his age, he might have trouble transitioning into the Warriors’s fast-paced game.

But it looks like the Warriors are more focused on the versatility that the center brings to the table. Whether they make this gamble is something we will have to look out for.
