The 2020 NBA Draft has already created some great headlines. One of the biggest storylines has been about LaMelo Ball going to the Charlotte Hornets as the third overall pick in the draft.
LaMelo entered the draft as a favorite to go number one overall. Even LaMelo’s brother Lonzo Ball went second overall in the 2017 NBA Draft to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Charlotte Hornets finally have a major attraction in their team by acquiring LaMelo Ball. Owner Michael Jordan now has a new franchise star after losing Kemba Walker last season in free agency.

If I could pour just two or three ounces of Michael Jordan's killer will in LaMelo Ball, the kid would one day win an MVP and carry Charlotte to an NBA Finals. At 6-7, LaMelo is that gifted as a passer and creative scorer.

LaMelo was a major prospect in the 2020 NBA Draft. He was one of the few players to not play college basketball in his draft class. Reports had emerged earlier that his draft stock had fallen a little due to unimpressive showings in the workouts and interviews. But as one can now see, his talent was too good to fall too far. Ball got selected in the top three, just as many analysts predicted.
LaMelo Ball – Father vs Boss
The biggest topic of discussion among fans was the potential interaction between Hornets’ owner Michael Jordan and LaMelo’s father, LaVar Ball. A few years ago, LaVar Ball proclaimed in a now-infamous interview on First Take that he could beat Michael Jordan one-on-one. And now, the Twitter has been quick to pounce on this storyline in the NBA Draft.
I'm assuming my man MJ just got the gate attraction he so desperately needs – "Ball in the Family's" LaMelo.

While Twitter had their fun and memes about LaVar and Jordan, there is a lot of excitement about Ball going to Charlotte.

Charlotte finally got the box-office draw that they had been searching for. Jordan’s Hornets haven’t had a marquee star that generates excitement among the fan base, but Ball plugs that gap. Were it not for the COVID-19 pandemic, Hornets games would have a greater number of fans in attendance than before.
Could LaMelo Ball be the piece that lifts the Charlotte Hornets into competitiveness?
