In the past, Dennis Schroder had been a full-time starter in the NBA, but it hasn’t really worked out. Most of his career’s success as an NBA player has come playing off the bench, which fits well with his style of play. When such a player joins a bigger and better franchise, particularly one that has just won a championship, it’s expected that he won’t get a huge role immediately. Especially when there are players like LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the starting lineup.
For many reasons, Schroder is a good piece for the Lakers. They were a team with one of the best defenses last season, but in the offense, we saw them struggle quite a bit, particularly when LeBron and Davis didn’t have the ball in their hands. So, the team lacked a third-scoring option, a player who could create shots for himself.
While many assumed that Kyle Kuzma would take over that role, his inconsistency proved everyone wrong. Thus, Dennis can fill that void with his three-point scoring. But is it possible that Schroder is hoping for a bigger role with the Lakers?

According to ‘The Athletic’, Schroder told reports in a video conference, “I did this off-the-bench stuff already in two years with OKC. I think I (will) try to move forward, and I think with AD and LeBron I can be helpful as a starter in the PG position.”

What would LeBron James say to this?
Schroder’s comments about wanting to be a starting point guard stirred some controversy. It’s crazy to think that any player would want to go over LeBron James and say something like that. NBA Analyst Shannon Sharpe, who is the ultimate supporter of Bron, lost his mind when he heard this.

“Rob Pelinka, please tell me you’ve got this under control?” asked Sharpe on Undisputed. “Let’s just say he is the best player in basketball right now. Let’s save the GOAT discussion for another day. The guy led the league in assists last year and Dennis Schroder comes to this team and says ”I want to be the point guard.’
“How does Dennis bypass LeBron and says: ‘I want to be the point guard?’ Skip, How?” Sharpe jokingly said that if LeBron was drinking wine when he heard this, “he would actually choke.”

Just like Sharpe, everyone is surprised with Schroder asking for something like this. While we all know this will never be possible, how will this go down with Schroder?
