“We miss you SO much, Gigi and Daddy.”

Vanessa had another post of Capri with her gifts. She thanked the people who made it possible and said the first birthday tradition wasn’t possible due to the ongoing pandemic.

In the past few months, Vanessa has had to celebrate a few important occasions in the absence of Kobe Bryant. Last month, she posted photos on Instagram that showed a celebration that her daughters had arranged for her.

The month of May also marked the birthday of late Gianna Bryant. She would have turned 14 on May 1 this year. Vanessa remembered Gigi and Kobe with a post on Instagram that read: “I miss your smile every day but I know you’re always smiling down on us from heaven with daddy. I love you.”

Vanessa Bryant continues to fight since the death of Kobe Bryant

After Kobe, Gigi and seven others died in a helicopter crash in January earlier this year, Vanessa filed a lawsuit against the helicopter company alleging them of being negligent. However, she is still fighting for justice. A representative of the pilot responded to the allegations saying the passengers should be held responsible. The company,  Island Express Helicopters Inc., also had similar comments saying, “voluntarily assume the risk of the accident, injury, and damages.”

Recently, she has urged the United States Congress to pass a bill to improve the safety of helicopters.

“I strongly urge that the United States Congress pass a federal law that would improve the safety of helicopters operating in this country,” she said in the statement as per CNN. “I believe there is a chance that Kobe and Gianna would still be alive today if their helicopter had been equipped with the safety equipment required by this pending federal legislation.”
