If you do not know how competitive Michael Jordan is, ‘The Last Dance’ might give a good insight into it. MJ’s mind always stood by winning in whatever he competed. Be it golf, or a game of cards or even rock, paper and scissors for that sake. He raised the stakes until he walked out the winner. While many knew about this, the story of him being hard on his kids has relatively stayed away from the light of the media.
The Chicago Bulls legend has three kids with his first wife. He raised them up to be just like him. Extremely competitive and a never give up attitude was forged into them by their father at a very young age. But the sheer level of their father’s competitiveness was unknown to Jeffrey, Marcus, and Jasmine Jordan until a particular incident took place.
The three joined ‘The Breakfast Club’ on Power 105.1 FM. They primarily discussed ‘The Last Dance’ episodes and what it meant to grow up with MJ as their father. As the trio engaged in the competitiveness that their father brought into the house, Marcus had a little story to reveal.

The day when Michael Jordan went overboard with his competitive nature
MJ’s kids started off by discussing about their dad’s influence on them growing up. However, talking about the attitude of his dad made Marcus Jordan recall a horrific story that left us all stunned upon reading it.
As transcribed by PEOPLE, Marcus said, “When we was little, we would play football on our knees, like tackle football on our knees with my dad, right?” And so there was this one time where we were playing in their room and they had these round like end tables at the end of their bed. And so Jeff was going for a touchdown — and I’ll never forget it — my dad tackled Jeff into the glass table.”
This doesn’t end here. The extent of the brutal tackle made by MJ on his son Jeffrey was also revealed by his second son. “I thought he was dead,” Marcus said. “I mean, you could literally see the meat and skull. Me and Jasmine were terrified, we were crying.”

The crying got their mother to storm into the room and scream at everyone for their actions. Of course she did not spare MJ as well. The kids even shared that Jeffrey needed 30 stitches to his head to fix the damage.
However, it was an accident and a matter of the past. The reason behind the kids sharing the story was very simple. It is a common misconception that MJ was over the limit with his competitiveness and could never shut it down. “He definitely could turn that off and be dad. Take us to school, making sure we got our work done and did everything we needed to do,” Marcus said. “But when it was on, it was on.”
