Giannis Antetokounmpo is the latest high-profile NBA star to suffer an injury in the ongoing playoffs. The ‘Greek Freak’ suffered a knee injury in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night.

Scans later revealed that Giannis suffered a hyperextended left knee during the third quarter of the game. The injury took place when Antetokounmpo went up to block an alley-oop attempt by Clint Capela. The 26-year old landed hard on his left leg and injured his knee as a result of the fall.

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo was one step close towards achieving his dream of playing in NBA finals this year. However, after recent events, Antetokounmpo will probably have to wait a little while longer to achieve his goal.

Since the start of the 2021 NBA season, Giannis has been dealing with injury niggles. He suffered back and knee injuries in January earlier this year. The knee injuries resurfaced in March and April but Giannis pulled through. He was also plagued with calf and groin issues but nothing as serious as this injury. Giannis will undergo further MRI scans in order to know the full extent of his injury and the time for which he will be sidelined.

Prior to going down in the 3rd quarter, Giannis recorded 14 points and 8 rebounds in 24 minutes during the Conference Finals. After his exit, the Hawks ran away with the game and registered a 110-88 win. They leveled the series up at 2-2 apiece. Game 5 of the series will be held on Thursday night and all eyes will be on the Bucks.
