The 2020 NBA draft is hours away from now. LaMelo Ball has been one of the top projected picks. Multiple teams are interested in LaMelo and would want to draft him.

The Charlotte Hornets have the 3 overall pick in this year’s draft. They have reportedly conducted workout sessions with top prospects such as James Wiseman, Tyrese Haliburton, and more.

But the Hornets seem to be interested in drafting LaMelo ball. NBA insider and the Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor reported that LaMelo Ball has Hornets’ owner Michael Jordan’s ‘stamp of approval’.

Ball is primarily a point-guard and for his age has great vision and passing ability. A player like Ball can become any team’s long time point guard.

Why Hornets should draft LaMelo Ball?

The Hornets are seeing multiple players like Bismack Biyombo and Willy Hernangomez enter free agency. Their other backup centre Cody Zeller is entering the last year in his contract.

The Hornets could have solved these problems by drafting. But according to multiple reports, Wiseman is not going to come down to number three in the drafts.

Hornets would not like to miss on a talent like LaMelo Ball. Ball is probably the most-talented player in the draft. The quality and the pull he brings to any team would be enormous.

The Hornets do not have a superstar on their team. Drafting LaMelo would give you a star in the making. Ball could eventually become the face of the franchise.

The team does have two point guards in Devonte’ Graham and Terry Rozier. Although Graham was the standout player in for them last season, he is not a great ball-handler and neither is Rozier.

LaMelo is a great ball handler and can instantly become a great facilitator. He might be the long time point guard the team should try to build around.

Ball still has a lot to develop, though. He has been a sluggish defender of the ball and had an inefficient shooter. One thing is sure, whoever drafts LaMelo Ball will get a supremely talented playmaker who has the potential to become an elite point-guard.
