The Dallas Mavericks did their part to upgrade the roster this offseason by building their defense and offense around their two superstars, Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. The Mavericks also decided to re-sign J.J. Barea, Trey Burke, and Willie Cauley Stein. After becoming one of the favorite underdogs last season behind the Nuggets, they will aim to go deeper this postseason.
A lot of the credit for their popularity last season was Luka Doncic. For someone who became Rookie of the Year and is averaging 29 points the next season, he is already adding himself to the potential MVP candidates. He has repeatedly proven that he deserves to be mentioned with the elitist of players in the NBA.
Very few had predicted the Mavs to make it to the playoffs. However, their poor record during clutch games resulted in them being eliminated by the Los Angeles Clippers.

The 21-year already has a fan following of his own. And many might wonder what it might be to play next to such a young yet talented player like Luka.
Playing alongside Luka Doncic
Willie got his two-year deal with Dallas for $8.2 million and a team option in the second season. In a recent interview with Chris Henderson, Willie opened up about how he feels playing with Doncic.
“In my first couple of months, I was trying to watch what’s everybody doing. I’m trying to see how people move? What are they working on? Because at the end of the day, I’m picturing myself as one of them.”
He further explained, “So, when I’m looking at that, the most important thing that I’ve seen about Luka is the way that he has fun with it. There isn’t anything you are going to do or say that makes that game not fun for him.”
“He might get frustrated in the game, but he going to go out, have fun with it, and come back in and do what he does. You can tell that in the game it is just fun. Regardless of what the situation is or how hard the situation is, it is just fun for him,” concluded Willie.
