Lakers’ Dwight Howard Gives an Absolute Classy Reply Urging Shaquille O’Neal to End Ongoing Beef

Last season, the Los Angeles Lakers were crowned as the NBA champions after eight long years. They had their big two of Anthony Davis and LeBron James and many veterans like Dwight Howard and Rajon Rondo in the bench.

Howard was impressive in the 2019-20 season and acted as a defensive boost to the Lakers. ‘Superman’ was a much needed big man to provide Anthony Davis with some support and took some weight off of his shoulders.

Dwight recently spoke with Basketball News’ Etan Thomas and shed some light on his beef with Shaquille O’Neal. When asked about the beef, Howard said, “I have no clue, you know, it’s crazy.”

He added, “Growing up, watching Shaq you know I was happy because he is a big man and you know he was killing everybody and I still think he is probably the most dominant player to ever play the game, but I won’t ever, if I had anything negative to say about him I won’t ever say it in the public eye or say that where people can hear it because I don’t think it’s necessary.

“I wish we could play each other again so I could end this beef but I have a lot of love for him and the things he has done for the sport and the way to beat him is to continue to play the game at a high level and not allow anything that’s negative seep into my ears and just staying focused.”

Dwight Howard at the Lakers

Dwight Howard had somewhat of a renaissance of a year at the Lakers. Although he wasn’t the same contributor in the offensive, his defense was pivotal for Lakers.

Howard averaged 7.5 points, 7.3 rebounds 1.1 blocks in 18.9 minutes played per match. He has been efficient for the Lakers and a bench role means that he is not getting tired as he used to. He can come off the bench and a grab a couple of rebounds and provide the LeBron and Co. with some much needed energy.

His experience and defensive prowess was at display in the Western Conference finals against Denver Nuggets. Superman locked in Nuggets’ big man Nikola Jokic, which hampered the Nuggets’ offense.

Howard last season had signed a summer contract worth $2.56 million. He has now entered unrestricted free-agency but will be keen on signing with the champions.
