Loss of a loved one is always heart breaking. However, one needs to move on with one’s life too. Unfortunately, when one is a public figure, it becomes much more difficult. The world still mourns the tragic death of Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant. Yet, Vanessa Bryant and her eldest daughter try to distance themselves from things that remind them of their loss.

Family does not want to see Kobe Bryant content on social media

Since NBA legend Kobe Bryant died on January 26, 2020, along with his daughter and seven others, the NBA community has not been the same. That includes the entire league, the fans and of course, Kobe’s family.

It was obvious that Los Angeles Lakers star’s wife, Vanessa Laine Bryant, and his daughters would be upset. All kinds of rumors went around about Vanessa’s mental health.

This points to the fact that the media was actually involving itself as much as possible to get into the lives of the Bryant family, post the NBA stars death. Initially, Vanessa seemed to do her best to look past everything and make sure Kobe’s memory is honored. And she seemed to succeed.

Vanessa gave speeches, promoted her late husband’s side businesses, and gave fans old pictures and memories. However, everyone has their limits. It seems Vanessa and her eldest daughter Natalia have finally reached theirs.

Recently, the mother-daughter duo changed their Instagram account settings to ‘private’, all of a sudden. While that meant not everyone could follow them or see their pictures, those who already followed them had access to their content. And this included a huge number of fan pages.

So, Vanessa and Natalia both blocked these fan pages, and recently also put up stories explaining why they did so.

According to Vanessa, constantly having to see pictures of Kobe and Gigi is taking a toll on her. Natalia mentioned that the fan pages kept reposting the content she creates on the social media app. Both these reasons seemed to remind the family of their loss constantly.

The duo has now blocked the fan pages and according to their stories, both believe it has helped change the Instagram algorithm, so they don’t have to look at excessive pictures and videos about Kobe and Gigi.

Social media does take a toll of a person’s mental health if they have to constantly come across things they don’t wish to see. We respect Vanessa and Natalia’s decision related to keeping their accounts private while being public figures.
