The Los Angeles Lakers reached a landmark moment after their victory over the Utah Jazz. The purple and gold have asserted their place as the best in the west. They will be going into the playoffs as the #1 seed in the western conference after ten long years. Under the guidance of LeBron James, the team looks ready to work for glory when the postseason begins.
It is also an emotional season for the Lakers, who want to win the championship for Kobe. The Mamba dedicated his entire NBA career for the purple and gold. Thus, winning it for the late Kobe Bryant would be a perfect tribute to the legend.

The Lakers had to endure many difficult times to get to where they are now. In fact, the last time they qualified as the #1 seed in the West was back in 2010. It was when Kobe led the team with a desire to complete back-to-back triumphs.
LeBron James on securing the #1 seed in the western conference
After a disappointing first year with the team, it is a revenge season for the King! He is extremely hyped to win it all this year. Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet caught up with LeBron after the Jazz victory to hear his views on clinching #1 seed in their conference.
“It’s a huge accomplishment for our franchise,” LeBron said. “To know where we‘ve been in the last few years, to be able to know that we’re the #1 seed in the west. We set out to do that from the beginning of the season.”
The King is certainly rejoicing over the fact that he has been able to lead the team to a better position this year. After years of not making it to the postseason, the Laker fans now have a lot to cheer for.
Besides the leadership of James, the addition of Anthony Davis to the roster has proved to be a turning point for the Lakers. AD has been phenomenal this season with his two-way game. The 27-year-old is also a favorite to win the Defensive Player of the Year this season. So what does LBJ think about the former Pelicans star?
LeBron on playing alongside Anthony Davis
Anthony Davis has put up two big performances for the Lakers in the bubble. AD stood out in the first game against the Clippers and the most recent win against the Jazz. Moreover, he has been the top contributing player for the Lakers in terms of points and rebounds this season.
Davis has been a spectacular player all season, and LeBron knows it. Here is what the four-time MVP had to say about his teammate: “It’s everything that I dreamed of,” LeBron said, about playing together with Davis. “I understand and I know the talent level he possesses out on the floor, both on the interior and on the perimeter.
“He’s one of those unicorn type players who can do it all,” LeBron continued. He lauded AD’s incredible talents and his ability to deliver clutch shots just like he did against the Jazz. “He’s definitely a special guy,” LeBron added.
With the playoffs fast approaching, what do the Lakers need to improve on?
The Lakers struggled to convert their field goals in their first two games against the Clippers and the Raptors. However, they overturned their form with a 50.0% FG against the Jazz. Coach Frank Vogel can be credited for this as he organized an intense shootaround for the Lakers after the loss to the Raptors.
Coach Vogel also mentioned that the Lakers should work more on their spacing and their screening. He also suggested that they need more shots, but that was duly received in the win against Jazz.
LeBron James, on the other hand, spoke to Mike Trudell about what the Lakers have been doing extremely well this season. “We’ve been flying around and we’ve been helping one another,” he began. “We’ve had a couple of breakdowns in the first three games, but the majority of these games, we’ve been really good defensively.

“Also, like our ball movement. I know we haven’t been shooting the ball extremely well from the perimeter. But the ball movement has been very contagious and we want to continue to do that because at some point it is only so many times that our shooters can be open and not knock them down,” LeBron added.
