Recently, Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony picked Michael Jordan as the GOAT. Skip Bayless responded, “LeBron James is not going to love this.” Considering how close LeBron James and Melo are as friends, he believes this statement will hurt the Lakers’ star.
Carmelo mentioned in a conversation with CBS sports, “You know, M.J. is the GOAT. He’s the greatest ever. We all know that and we all agree to that.”
Well, the NBA analyst never leaves a chance to take a dig at LeBron, Bayless is startled by Melo’s statement. He talked about it in length on his show UNDISPUTED.

“Thank you for saying that Carmelo, you just closed the door right in your best friend’s face. This is exactly the kind of betrayal that Michael Jordan would not abide by.”
Michael Jordan has been in a similar situation before. When Charles Barkley made a negative comment on his team-building in Charlotte Hornets, MJ instantly closed all doors to their friendship. As Skip would like to say it, “That bridge got burned to the ground. Over. Shut out.”
This is the kind of betrayal that Michael Jordan wouldn’t abide by. LeBron’s not built like that. I think this will hurt LeBron more than it will offend him. More @Undisputed, now on FS1 https://t.co/OcfCWaPJk6

LeBron James will be hurt, says Skip Bayless
LeBron has always had a loving image amongst fans and players. He is known as a team player on the court and Bayless is right to say that he wouldn’t make a similar move as Jordan.
“LeBron’s not built like that. I think this will hurt LeBron more than it will offend him. LeBron’s too nice of a guy. He’s more of a lover than a fighter. He’s not going to shut off Carmelo over this.” Skip Bayless continued. “But I think he’s going to be wounded over it because Carmelo was so adamant about it like there’s not even any grey area.”

Moreover, Carmelo made an effort to cover up his statement by off-rightly saying that MJ, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron, all three are the GOATs and it’s difficult to choose one.
“Why can’t we say, ‘M.J. was very great, LeBron is very great, Kobe is very great.’” To this statement by Melo, Skip lashed at him in a sly manner. “Carmelo tried to give himself an escape patch. He tried to put an asterisk on it.”
Most would want to know LeBron’s reaction after all this banter. Skip has probably added fuel to the fire. But now it’s LeBron’s turn if he wishes to make it a huge deal or just let it be.
