LeBron James is at the pinnacle of his sport and he surely knows what it takes to get to the top. James is in the 17th year of his professional NBA career and leads the league in assists this season. His Lakers team stands first in the Western Conference table and looks strong at the top. 

James recently joined an Instagram live chat with ‘klutchsports,’ a very familiar sports organization owned by James’ long time friend, Rich Paul. The four-time MVP joined the live session on the occasion of the 2020 NFL Virtual Draft. 

LeBron James shares his advice to the new draftees

The three-time NBA champion was very rightful in his words of advice when he was asked to share his expertise with the young NFL draftees.

“I think the biggest advice I can give is that It’s time to start over.” He mentioned how the new college kids who step foot into the NFL were all stars players in their respective universities. “All the guys that come into the pros, they are the cream of the crop where they are coming from,” he said.

LeBron James was the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft, selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He retold his story of how he was picked as the best high school player in the country. James even explained how he blended into the NBA as a rookie.

“I had to put in the time, I had to put in the work. When I felt like everybody was sleeping I put on more work then. I kept quiet and I listened. I soaked in all the information and just tried to lead by example.”

He asserted that when a youngster starts leading by example, it will automatically reach the eyes of the veterans. James asked the new entrants to remain true and committed to their work ethic, a result of which success is sure to follow.

James then highlighted the importance of rest in an athletes career. “Take as much rest as you can. Sleeping is the best recovery for your body,” he mentioned. He was very vocal with his advice to the new NFL guys. You can’t ignore the words that come from the mouth of a champion. His words will surely resonate with every new NFL draft pick who watch his video.
