The NBA has been on a standstill ever since March 11. When Rudy Gobert tested positive, the league shut down all activities and has not announced a return date. For the Los Angeles Lakers, it would have been a bitter one, considering their position in the league table.

The Lakers are atop the Western Conference table and boast the second-best record in the league. They have only lost twelve games so far, and would be hoping they get closure before the next season begins. The team was perfectly on course to make it to the finals and dreamt of winning their first championship in ten long years.

LeBron James deployed his beast mode as usual, and averaged 25.7 points per game and led the league in assists. The team overall was in good shape and it never kills to believe that you can find your way to glory this season.

Alex Caruso has been with the Lakers since 2017. He has helped them succeed in crucial times, showing he can be the one to depend upon. The 26-year-old recently opened up to Allie Clifton of Spectrum SportsNet, where he talked about his productivity and the mental toughness of the Lakers team.

Los Angeles Lakers are mentally prepared to return, says Caruso

The Texas native spoke about the team in full length and mentioned there were no shortcomings during the unusual offseason. He stated it is not going to be easy to play after a huge gap away, but insisted that the team would be well prepared to face anything that comes their way.

“Ready. I think that’s the word. We’ve got pros, I think the young guys on our team, including me, are aged beyond our years as far as work ethic and mental preparation. I think everybody’s just going to be ready. When you know the goal’s in sight, and you know it’s attainable, and you’ve got leaders like LeBron, AD, Dwight, JaVale, Rondo — guys like that who’ve been around and have great work ethic, I think the only word I can think of is ‘ready.’”

Though he speaks about the mental toughness of the team, one aspect they need to enhance is the physical zeal of the squad. We all know that LeBron James is a monster when it comes to getting into shape. But, the rusty hands when it comes to 5v5 competitive basketball is one to keep in mind.

The team has a balance of young talents and veterans of the game. That is a major reason behind their success this season. The followers of purple and gold were ecstatic to see their team bringing back the glory days. Hopefully, the season should resume soon and we can see what is set to unfold. A roller-coaster of a year so far, should comply to the needs of fans and let the NBA season conclude.
