Kevin Durant Shuts Down Speculations About Taking the Easy Route with the Golden State Warriors

When Kevin Durant joined the Golden State Warriors in 2016, everyone knew success was imminent. How can a player like KD join a superteam and not win anything? The Warriors won back-to-back championships in 2017 and 2018, but Durant is tired of hearing that he took the easy way out to earn rings in his career. 

There have been massive speculations ever since Kevin Durant left the Warriors. The reasons behind it are simple: KD wanted a change, so he got out. But, when people try to dig up into his time with the Bay Team, many controversial moments arise which can prove to be a cause behind his exit. 

KD choosing to leave the Warriors is a different story. But people questioning his integrity for joining them is a story that’s been twisted over and over again. But Kevin Durant does not realize what the hype is all about. 

Durant recently joined ‘The Old Man and the Three’ podcast, where he once again addressed how hard he worked with the Warriors to win those two championships.

“I just never understood what that means. Cause I still come to work every day. I go through every rep at 100 percent speed. I just don’t understand that,” Durant reacted to people claiming he took the easy way out. 

Kevin Durant reiterates how great of a finals performer he is 

So far, Kevin Durant has made it to three NBA finals in his career. He made the first one with a young OKC team and was easily bested in five-games by LeBron James and the Heat. However, KD individually averaged 30.6 points in that series, which is an incredible effort. 

Moreover, he made three consecutive finals trip with the Warriors and won two of them. He stood out as the Finals MVP on two occasions to uplift his status as one of the very best in the league. But KD’s unhappy that people still question his talent when it comes to big games. 

“I played at an elite level in the Finals at all the biggest moments. And I can understand if I didn’t play well at all, but I played the best that I could in both Finals for that team,” Durant said about his performance with the Warriors. 

“I felt like I got up every day and held myself to a championship, elite player standard, and I reached it pretty much 95 percent of the time. Well, 98 percent of the time in practice and games and shootarounds. So, yeah, of course I earned that,” he added.

Kevin Durant inarguably stood out as the Warriors’ best player on the court in both the 2017 and 2018 finals. His versatility made him unguardable on several occasions. As a player, KD averages 30.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in the 15 finals games that he has played. 

This stat is incredible and serves as a testament to his talent. Kevin Durant is easily one of the Top 3 players in the league at the moment. Thus, questioning his talent and labeling him as a player who takes the easy way out is just ridiculous.
