The Los Angeles Lakers have added a lot of fresh faces to their roster this offseason. However, there is one veteran player who is going to stay. Right from the start, Jared Dudley was optimistic that the Lakers would re-sign with him in free agency.
Dudley also claimed that he would be willing to do anything to play for the Lakers even if he had to beg their General Manager, Rob Pelinka for it. Looks like the Lakers granted him his wish because according to Adrian Wojnarowski, the two sides have agreed to a one-year, $2.6 million deal.

What does Jared Dudley bring to the table for the Lakers?
The 35-year-old did not play many minutes during the regular season, but he was the essential ingredient for maintaining chemistry between players. His locker room presence and mentoring of the younger players made him more valuable than his statistics.

Dudley shot 42.9% of his threes and showed that he could also help on the defensive end when most needed. The Lakers did not need much of him in the postseason last year, so he spent most of his time on the bench, but his hilarious and unfiltered interviews won the hearts of many fans.
Now that the season is going to be more compact, it’s possible he will play a bigger role than just an emergency back-up option. Signing a player like Dudley will ease the franchise’s transition into their new roster and may help them win another title.

Was signing Dudley the wise choice? Or should they have chosen a player who can contribute more on the court in free agency?
