Ironically enough, Kyrie Irving is getting all the media attention after having opted out of media day. He is gaining all sorts of negative reviews, both from NBA analysts and from his own former teammate.
The 28-year-old chose not to speak to the media and instead released a public statement ahead of the upcoming season. During the NBA training camps, it is necessary that a player interacts with the media. However, Ky gave the reasoning that he wants his work to speak for him. This certainly did not go down well with many.

Recently in an interview, Stephen A. Smith spent over three minutes ripping apart Ky. He almost frantically expressed, “I think he’s immature, occasionally selfish, and at this particular moment in time, he comes off as a damn snob! He thinks people are beneath him and he’s above it. [He] looks at the media as being inauthentic… Everything that has happened to Kyrie Irving is self-inflicted. Go back and look at the tapes, quote him… In Kyrie’s world it’s always us, it’s never him!”
Stephen just could not swallow that Kyrie wanted to step away from the same media that kept his presence alive, even when he was off the court for an entire season. He was clearly very upset at the way this 6-time NBA All-star rejected the media.

Stephen, in his unstoppable verbal war against Ky, also mentioned how Kyrie had the guts to disrespect former teammate Bron. The fact that Kyrie failed to mention LeBron James’ name in certain comments showed that he lacked trust in Bron during clutch moments. This comment from Ky picked up so much heat that the 4-time champion, Bron himself, had to come forward and agree he was “hurt”.

Notably, just a couple of months ago, Kyrie had faced a similar backlash when he had said they did not need a head coach.
The Brooklyn Nets will play the Wizards and Celtics in the preseason before opening the calendar year against a scary Warriors. Kyrie better perform in all these games or his comments will come back to haunt him.
