“I’m Just Being Honest”: Charlotte Hornets Player Makes A Bizarre Statement About the Legacy of Michael Jordan

The Charlotte Hornets are not participating in the NBA’s restart. But, they had an enlightening experience during the self-quarantine period by watching ‘The Last Dance.’ The young team found an intriguing version of their owner Michael Jordan as the docuseries highlighted the Chicago Bulls legend winning championships after the other. 

To put it into perspective, three Hornets players were infants and one wasn’t even born when MJ won his sixth and final championship. The Hornets are a budding team and truly had a lot to learn from Jordan’s sensational ten-part docuseries. 

Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Abrams managed to get in touch with a few Hornets players to learn about how their enriching experience from ‘The Last Dance.’ The team’s point guard Devonte’ Graham mentioned how the docuseries aided in giving him a never before perspective about Michael Jordan. 

“I wasn’t able to really watch him,” Graham said. “I hear all the stories, and you see the films and the clips and things like that, but you actually watched The Last Dance, it kind of put it in perspective to why he is who he is and the way he played and the way he led and carried himself, why—to me, [he’s] the greatest player—he’s considered to be one of the greatest players ever.”

Hornets player makes honest admission regarding the legacy of Michael Jordan 

Almost every NBA fan can count the number of championships Michael Jordan has won in his career. Furthermore, his achievement of winning the double three-peat with the Bulls is no secret story either. But, Hornets’ Terry Rozier made a rather shocking admission to Abrams about his NBA knowledge. 

“Just actually seeing this documentary, I learned so much,” Rozier said. “I didn’t even know that they won three straight [championships two times]. I’m just being honest…To do things like that in this league, you have to be super special.”

The 26-year-old point guard, however, mentioned the pride he takes in playing for the Hornets. Jordan’s trust in Rozier is pushing him to perform at a constant level. Here’s what Rozier said about the mentality of MJ and playing for a team owned by him. 

“You think you have an idea of [his mentality], but when you see this documentary, it kind of gives you chills,” Rozier continued. “Me to be playing for him, the owner of the Charlotte Hornets, is super huge to me because I take that as he likes my competitive drive. He sees something in me. So … I just want to keep getting better.”

As mentioned by B/R, MJ apparently held a video conference call with his young roster. The six-time champion reminisced his playing days with the Chicago Bulls. ‘His Airness’ also delved into the docuseries and explained his winning mentality, hoping to motivate his players into becoming star athletes.
