Los Angeles Clippers’ Patrick Beverley strongly felt LeBron James wanting to play would see the restart of the league.

After the NBA proposed a 22-team format for the league’s resumption, many players were against playing. Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving led a conference call with around 80 players saying the league resuming now would be a distraction from the issues in the society. Carmelo Anthony, Los Angeles Lakers’ Dwight Howard, and Avery Bradley were among those who were in favor of not restarting the league.

Former NBA player Stephen Jackson also came out in support of Irving saying there are bigger things than basketball that people should worry about.

“Playing basketball ain’t going to do nothing but make them money and take the attention of what we’re fighting for, what we’re marching for. It’s bigger than all of us, and it’s bigger than the game. It’s sad that we’ve still got to explain that to people, bro. It’s sad,” he said.

Pat Beverley believes everyone would agree with LeBron James

Lakers star LeBron James was not among the players on Friday’s call and reports suggested he was in favor of the league’s resumption. He felt it did not affect the ongoing protests in any manner. On Sunday, Beverley tweeted in support of his rival team’s star.

“Hoopers say what y’all want. If LeBron James said he hooping. We all hooping. Not Personal only business,” the tweet read.

It is one of the very few occasions when Beverley has agreed to James. On the court, Beverley never seems to miss an opportunity to confront James and trash talk. A few weeks back, Beverley did not miss an opportunity to even take dig against a virtual James while taking part in a video game contest. Yet, he strongly felt would resume if the four-time MVP felt so.

Among others who differed from Irving’s idea was Houston Rockets guard Austin Rivers. While praising Kyrie for his passion, Rivers felt that the league’s resumption would not affect the ongoing protests. He further said it might actually help them providing money to the players.
