The New York Knicks have passed the last seven years without making it into the playoffs. This is their worst run since 1966. It is hence clear that the organization is now under the impression of make or break in this off-season. They are keen on signing Chris Paul, and the NBA experts have backed this intention too.
Rumors have been floating in the trade market that the Knicks are looking for a rebuild with stars like Russell Westbrook (Rockets), Victor Oladipo (Pacers), and Chris Paul (OKC). CP3, more than anyone, is the one that they need to give that leading edge to their young squad.

NBA Insiders back Knicks’ willingness to sign Chris Paul
David Fizdale recently sat for an interview where he exclaimed, “His position fits the young players that they have! Mitchell Robinson needs a Chris Paul; RJ Barrett needs a Chris Paul; Kevin Knox needs a Chris Paul. Because of the position placement, that’s why I say he could end up, especially in the East at the bottom, and in the East, you don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Young stars like Julius Randle and RJ Berrett have been a blessing in disguise for the Knicks. But they still need a leader to show them the pathway to deliver it consistently at the highest level. These are the All-star potential players that can grow limitlessly under a mentor like Chris Paul. He helped OKC to almost force the Rockets out in Game 7 this year.

Another recent report suggested that the OKC will hear Chris Paul’s say when trading him. Considering this as a true fact, it is highly unlikely that Chris will want to move to a side that has to be built from scratch. He might have other options to move to Los Angeles or to Milwaukee and win his first NBA ring. Even David Fizdale added in his interview, “For him, I just don’t think it’s the right move, for what he’s trying to get out of his career.”
Having said that, both Tom Thibodeau and Scott Perry would want to lure Chris into this deal. Earlier in the year, the veteran had claimed that he had no intention of moving out of the $44.2 million contract. Let’s see how the developments unfold for him and the more desperate Knicks.
