Portland Trail Blazers has definitely acquired a star in Damian Lillard. Last night he tied his career-high 61 points to take his team to a 134-131 over Dallas Mavericks. It was his sixth 50-point game of the season and proves to be the bubble MVP for his ecstatic performances.

Blazers are currently at the eighth spot of the Western Conference, exactly what they have been fighting for. It’s going to be interesting moving forward near to the playoffs. Pheonix Suns are also trading fast to grab the same seed.

Damian Lillard had one of his best games in the bubble. His campaign in Orlando has already been loaded with numbers and this was the cherry at the top. He put in nine 3s in the game and became the 12th player in NBA history with back-to-back 50-point plus games.

Lillard had some online banter after the last match against Clippers where they lost and were shamed by the opponents. Paul George and Patrick Beverley got into an ugly feud with Lillard after the latter missed a shot in the Blazers-Clippers game. This game was probably a lip seal for them after all those comments.

Blazers’ coach believes Damian Lillard is focused and determined

Blazers’ point guard was spilling shots from all over the court. Lillard was shooting a nice 17 of 32 from the field and made all his 18 free throws count. He is now with Wilt Chamberlain as the only players in NBA with three 60-point games in a season.

Carmelo Anthony also dropped 26 points to add to the Blazers’ win. For the Mavericks, Kristaps Porzingis was the highest scorer with 36 points but later got fouled out in the game. Luka Doncic and other also added their share to the scoreboard but in vain.

Blazers’ coach, Terry Stotts also highlighted on Lillard’s focus and determination inside the bubble. He seems quite impressed with their star player and his drive to make it to the playoffs. Moreover, he talks about how Lillard felt after the previous defeat to Clippers.

“He’s come out very focused and determined. No one felt worse about losing the Clippers game than he did. He’s showing a lot of resolve. Nobody wanted to come into this bubble and make the playoffs more than Dame,” Terry added in the post-game conference. “And we have got one more game to go but his leadership…Obviously his game speaks for himself but he’s bringing the team along with him.”

The Blazers are yet to clinch a playoff berth in Orlando. WIll they?
