The Los Angeles Lakers are reaping the benefits of signing Anthony Davis in the 2019 offseason. AD has been tremendous in teaming up with LeBron, proving to be the perfect partner for the King. However, is Davis ready to pack his bags for Chicago and leave LA next season?
This rumor is trending on the internet, especially in the NBA community at the moment. The reason being that Anthony Davis will become a free agent post the completion of the season if he doesn’t wish to activate his player-option in the contract.
Moreover, former NBA player Jay Williams is positive that Davis will return to his hometown of Chicago to represent them in the league. Williams joined Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson on the ‘Heavy on Lakers’ podcast, where he brought up his thoughts about AD’s move to the Bulls.

“Anthony Davis is coming up, people,” Williams stated. “He’s coming up. If the Lakers don’t do it this year, hello, Chicago. That’s where he is from. We’ve got to start pitching to people who want to come back home and rep home.”
Jay Williams backed up his comment by mentioning that Davis is a young star who would someday want to return to his hometown and give back to the society. “That’s legitimate change,” Williams said.
Anthony Davis hinted at joining the Bulls last year
Anthony Davis was born and raised in Chicago. The 6’10” big man would have watched Michael Jordan win all those championships for the ‘Windy City’ when he was a kid. Thus, it can’t be ruled out that AD has no intention of playing for the Bulls at some point in his career.
When Davis and the Lakers flew to Chicago to play the Bulls in November 2019, he faced a challenging question. It was about the possibility of AD joining the Bulls, but the time and place where he received it was uncomfortable.

AD visited his alma-mater Perspectives Charter School for an event, in which he surprised the school’s basketball teams. In front of the young Chicagoan kids, he was posed the question of joining the Bulls, to which he gave a positive reply.
“Honestly, it’s nothing like playing at home. I don’t know … I mean, I am a free agent next year, but we’ll see. It’s a possibility,” Davis said.

Lakers fans will not enjoy seeing rumors about Davis joining the Bulls. But as Jay Williams said, it all depends on the purple and gold winning the championship this year. AD joined the Lakers in pursuit of championship glory. If it does not fulfill his expectations, we might see him join the Bulls eventually.
