Michael Jordan and the Charlotte Hornets drafted LaMelo Ball as the third pick in this year’s draft. He was arguably the most talented prospect in the draft.
Given his talents, LaMelo could have been drafted even higher. But his father LaVar Ball thinks that the Hornets are the right team for his son. Ball went on to say that Hornets’ owner Michael Jordan can help his son to be one of the best.
In his recent appearance at Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay LaVar Ball said, “Greatness recognizes greatness. Somebody’s got to be better than Jordan. Why not you and be tutored under him? Come on, man. It’s about to be something special.”

How will Michael Jordan and the Hornets benefit from LaMelo Ball?
Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Hornets have been in the fringes of the league for some time now. Some players on the side like Devonte’ Graham showed some promise last season, but the team did not progress much.
Since the departure of Kemba Walker, the team did not have a star on their side. LaMelo can be their answer. He is already a celebrity off the court and can become the face of the franchise for years to come.

The team has two point guards in Devonte’ Graham and Terry Rozier. Although Graham was the standout player for them last season, he is not a great ball-handler and neither is Rozier. With elite playmaking and ball-handling, LaMelo could be the facilitator the Hornets need.
This off-season, MJ and Hornets’ front office have also added a new star to their side. They signed free agent Gordon Hayward by offering him a monstrous $120 million for four years guaranteed.

Over the years Hayward has become a very versatile player. He has become an able passer and can add some points on the board too. An able shooter of the ball, Hayward will be crucial for the team.
LaMelo can also benefit from a player like Hayward. The experienced power forward can be helpful in the rookie’s development in the offensive end. A partnership between Ball and Hayward will surely be intriguing.
