The 2021 NBA free agency will have some of the best players. Two-time MVP and 2019-20 defensive player of the year, Giannis Antetokounmpo, will arguably be one of the biggest of them if he does not accept the Supermax deal with the Bucks.
The ‘Greek Freak’ has been on a long vacation post the playoffs and currently is Sweden. There, he gave an exclusive interview to Swedish outlet Stockholm newspaper Aftonbladet (with a hat tip to Swedish journalist Alexander Nilsson and CBS Sports).
When asked about his free agency, the ‘Greek Freak’ said, “There are a lot of rumors. Everyone has opinions. But at the end of the day, I will do what is best for my family. I do not see why I could not be in Milwaukee for several years. As long as Milwaukee and I are on the same page when it comes to being one of the best teams in the league and winning championships, that’s fine. When it changes, it will not be good.

“It’s easy, I want to be a winner. I do not care about the money. My family is fine and I can take care of my children and grandchildren, so that’s not the most important thing right now, it’s winning. As long as we can win and create a winning culture, it will be good.”
When asked about him signing a contract extension with Milwaukee, Giannis admitted, “I do not know what the plan is. It depends on what decisions they make. If they make the right decision, I’ll be there for many years. If they do not, we’ll see. The NBA is business and we take it day by day. Hopefully, we can succeed together.”
Which teams could lure Giannis Antetokounmpo?

The Dallas Mavericks can be a great option for Giannis. They have a solid core of Luka Doncic and Kristoff Porzingis. The Mavericks only have around $84.1 million committed to most of their role players. Against the originally projected $125 million 2021-22 cap, they’d already have max cap space. Giannis will also have a splendid chance to dominate in a whole new level. This team could easily win multiple championships.
The Miami Heat surprised many by making it to NBA finals. In their journey, they defeated the ‘Greek Freak’ and the Bucks. The Heat has a core of Jimmy Butler, Adebayo, Herro and Robinson, who have a combined salary cap of $65 million. This leaves the space for signing two free agents.

Financially, this deal is a no-brainer. However, the key question is, how will they fit all these players in the starting lineup?
The addition of Giannis Antetokounmpo to any roster is intriguing. He will be a big plus to any side and there are some big teams waiting for him to enter free-agency. It will be interesting to see whether the Bucks can convince him to sign the Supermax contract or not.
