DeMarcus Cousins has had a tumultuous career. The Sacramento Kings picked Cousins fifth overall in the 2010 NBA draft. Cousins went to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2017 in a trade that saw many pieces change locations. ‘Boogie’s’ time with the Kings had highlights, and unfortunately, some low lights. Cousins rose to All-Star status in Sacramento in 2015 and 2016. He also broke Kings’ legend Chris Webber’s scoring record for Sacramento, scoring 56 points in a single game.
‘Boogie’ Cousins started facing problems in Sacramento around 2015. The appointment of George Karl as head coach for the Kings marked the beginning of a rough patch that ended with Cousins being traded.
Karl and Cousins immediately started facing problems with each other. They never got along with each other, and neither wanted to be around the other. Karl was fired from his position after just one season in 2016. During their time together, Cousins and Karl consistently had differences with each other.

Since Karl’s dismissal, Cousins was traded to New Orleans. Then he joined the Warriors in 2018 in free-agency for a one-year contract. In 2019, he signed with the Lakers to join LeBron James and Anthony Davis. But during pre-season workouts, Cousins tore his ACL, due to which the Lakers waived him in February 2020.

George Karl stirred up further drama recently. On Twitter, Karl responded to a playful tweet. The tweet said, “Your first name is the player you disliked the most 10 years ago. Your last name is the player you dislike the most now.” George Karl replied to the tweet with DeMarcus Cousins and snake emoji.

Clearly, the bad blood between Cousins and Karl has not dissipated with the passing of time. Perhaps Karl still harbors negative feelings towards Cousins as he thinks he lost his job in Sacramento, partly due to Cousins. And since then, Karl could not find a coaching job in the NBA.
What is even more eye-catching is that this feud between the two is still ongoing, five years since they last played together. Whatever side you’re on, it’s fair to say that it’s time both parties let the anger go.
