When James Harden requested a trade from the Houston Rockets, many reports suggested that the Brooklyn Nets were his preferred trade destination. However, for this trade to go down, the Nets would have to include either Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving in the package.
Many might suggest this idea is absurd, as the Durant and Irving haven’t even played a game together yet. But according to former NBA champion and current NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins, the Nets should trade Irving for Harden.

In an interview, Perkins supported his argument and said, “If I’m Brooklyn, and I’m looking to do what’s best for this Brooklyn team, and I’m looking to get better… Hell yeah, I’d trade Kyrie for James Harden in a heartbeat. I don’t even think about that.”

However, this trade can’t possibly happen without running it by Kevin Durant first since Durant and Irving share a close bond with each other. If the franchise were to take any rash decisions, it holds the risk of upsetting their superstar.
But considering the fact that Durant and Harden have already played together back during their OKC days, this trade might actually work for both teams.

Both the All-Star guards have seen their share of success in the NBA. On one hand, Kyrie Irving has a certain flair to his game and has already won an NBA Championship. Meanwhile, Harden has bagged a regular-season MVP, and his scoring prowess is unmatched.
But at the end of the day, the Nets already have Kevin Durant, who can handle scoring duties pretty well. With Irving taking the facilitating duties for the Nets, they have become a complete team.

Also, acquiring Irving after trading for John Wall won’t make much sense for the Rockets. Keeping everything in mind, the Rockets need to accept a deal around someone other than KD or Irving, if they want to convince the Nets.
What are your thoughts on this potential trade suggested by Kendrick Perkins? Do you agree with him?
