Brooklyn Nets are making headlines with their speculated success the next season. The dynamic duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving is the crackling chemistry the audience and NBA are longing to witness. And now, with Steve Nash added to the equation, the hype just keeps on rising.
Although, this is just one part of it. There is a flip side to this trio that everyone is trying to fathom. Steve Nash will make his debut as coach, while Durant and Irving are two ball dominating players who might have a tough time jelling up on the court. These are a few concerns that are being raised consistently.
However, we’ll only know for sure when we get to see the end product. With this in mind, the NBA power rankings for 2020-21 kept the Nets on the 10th Rank. While many might disagree with this standing, former NBA player Paul Pierce thinks it’s accurate.

Do the Brooklyn Nets still have a lot to prove?
On ESPN’s ‘The Jump‘, Paul Pierce clarifies that he thinks the Nets being 10th is “accurate”. Though Jackie McCollum opposes that stance, he said, “I like their talent but when you look at their roster, look how many guys actually need the ball.”
“You know you can’t tell these guys to space and be spot-up guys. Irving needs the ball. Durant, Caris LeVert, Dinwiddie, these guys have all been successful with the ball in their hands and so the key to all of this is going to be Kyrie Irving. How well can he play on and off the ball because they got some talented guys on this team that need the ball so that we have yet to see.”
When talking about their shooting, Pierce does not deny that they are great, but he explains where exactly they are lagging. “I do believe they have enough shooting also. You know Kyrie is a street shooter, Kevin Durant, Joe Harris, Caris LeVert, these guys can knock down shots,” stated Pierce.
“They have more shooting than the Lakers and the Lakers won the championship. But within the Lakers defense, they got two top-five players. Now Durant is a top-five player, but can Kyrie get back in that conversation as one of the top point guards in the NBA next year?”
