Although Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers barely made it to the playoffs, Lillard’s incredible performance last season caught everyone’s attention. He showed what he was capable of and has now joined the debate of who the best point guards in the league are right now.
Lillard has voluntarily taken it upon himself to take the Blazers to a title. A supporting cast of CJ McCollum and Carmelo Anthony makes his job easier, but the burden of taking the team forward will fall on Lillard. And without a doubt, he has been doing an incredible job of this.
However, the Blazers fell short in front of the Los Angeles Lakers, which led to their premature exit from the Bubble. This was because Lillard had to leave the bubble due to injuries, so one can see the importance he holds.

Many may argue that there are far better point guards than him, but with the odds stacked against him, Lillard does way more than expected. Thus, Former NBA Champion Kendrick Perkins still holds his opinion about Lillard.

Speaking to Michael Holley and Michael Smith from Peacock TV, Perkins said, “Right now Dame Dolla is the best Point guard in the league. And no one could argue that. Although LeBron played the point, he is not a point guard. But Dame Dolla, The way he tore up the Bubble this past season. The season that he had overall, keeping Portland battling in… you can do nothing but respect him.”

Last season was the best one of Lillard’s career. It’s not often that one sees a 30-year-old have the best game of his career. With the way he plays, he is in talks of being a potential MVP candidate next season. If he manages to keep his game as high as last time, there is no reason to doubt those assumptions.
