Preseason games aren’t of any significance to anyone. They only exist to warm the teams up before the regular season begins. However, if a former MVP is making his comeback from the sidelines, it has got to draw attention. The much-awaited return of Kevin Durant for the first time with Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets came to life on Sunday, when they took down the Washington Wizards 119-114.
In the 2019 NBA Finals, Durant injured the Achilles tendon of his right leg. Soon after, he bid goodbye to the Golden State Warriors and joined the Nets to play beside Kyrie Irving. Unfortunately, ACL injuries are the most toll-taking injuries of the game, and at times players are never the same after.
This is something everyone feared with Durant, who sat out the entire last season. However, watching him play in the preseason game was an excitement of one kind, but the icing on the cake was watching the four-time NBA scoring champion play like he never left.

He played just about 2 minutes against the Wizards and bagged 15 points in his debut with the Nets. Durant and Irving combined for a total of 33 points for the team. If this is an indication of what’s to come, then the other teams should be worried and Kendrick Perkins’ can’t agree with this more.
Kevin Durant is back!
The Durant-Irving duo’s dominating offensive performance is exactly what the fans wanted to see for so long. However, this isn’t great news for fans and players of other franchises.
Former NBA champion Perkins posted on Twitter after the game and wrote, “Well I’ve seen enough…Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are about to be a damn problem. Jesus Christ!!!”

Lakers‘ legend LeBron James posted a welcome back message for Durant on his Instagram story. He wrote, “Happy to see you back where you belong. On the court G!”

The Wizards were missing their newly acquired superstar, Russell Westbrook. It’s possible that the game might have been a wee bit different if Westbrook was there to dominate the offensive end for the Wizards. But that doesn’t change the fact that Durant and Irving will be an enormous threat to others in the future.
