Nothing could be better for the Milwaukee Bucks than to realize they’ve finally made Giannis Antetokounmpo stay. After a long wait and being just moments away from the last date to sign an extension, the Bucks were holding their breath. With so many big players constantly wanting to move around, Giannis’ decision was a huge surprise for everyone.
Giannis has signed a five-year super-max contract of $228.2 million. As per Shams Charania, this is the largest deal ever made in the history of the league. Given that Giannis is a player who everybody had their eyes on including championship contending teams like the Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat, this deal seems like it was worth it.
Without a doubt, Giannis would have changed the fate of any other team he went to. In fact, teams were so desperate to acquire him that they made moves this offseason purely keeping in mind that they needed to have enough cap space for the Greek Freak when he hit free agency markets in 2020-21.

More than anything, Giannis’ teammates are also thrilled to have him lead them. They’ve posted their reactions to Giannis signing with the Bucks on Twitter.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is here to stay
When Giannis posted his decision, he talked about how much he loved his team and how there was nowhere else he would rather be. This made his fellow teammates extremely happy, and Khris Middleton, Pat Connaughton, Bobby Portis, and Torrey Craig took to social media to show their support.

Giannis is the man who is the third person to have won the Defensive Player of the Year and MVP trophy in the same season, with the other two being Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon. However, there is one area that he still differs from them in. Both of them were able to lead the team that drafted them to an NBA title.
With five more years under his belt, the Bucks have more time to keep building a better roster around their superstar and hope he brings them the championship they so badly want. Do you think Giannis’ first title lies with the Bucks? Or did he make a mistake by not signing with a championship-caliber team?
