The Miami Heat have a really special rookie amongst them in Tyler Herro. Not only that, but they also have the perfect veteran player to make Herro into one of the best in the league. Ever since Herro made his way into Miami Heat, he and Jimmy Butler have had a special bond. This was visible even during their time in the Bubble, and the Miami Heat benefited tremendously from their chemistry.

The Miami Heat’s postseason run last year is one to remember. It looked like the stars were aligned for them, but not for too long. They became the Eastern Conference Champions, but the Los Angeles Lakers did not let them fulfill their dream of winning a title. But if it weren’t for Jimmy Butler, there is no way Heat could have gone so deep.

There are many accusations constantly floating around, calling Butler is a bad teammate. His time with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Philadelphia 76ers ended with a lot of resentment. Butler was just not happy, but he found his home in Miami Heat. And Tyler Herro just never gets tired of raving about his teammate.

Jimmy Butler and his player mentality

On ‘The Players Tribune‘, Herro listed down the fourteen things he learned in just one year as an NBA player. Not so surprisingly, he also talked about the man he looks up to, Jimmy Butler.

“Jimmy Butler is a winner.” asserted Herro. “I guess it wasn’t just me who learned that last season. The whole world learned that. But it’s crazy to me that it took people this long. Jimmy is the #1 hardest worker I’ve ever been around — I mean, #1. Period. That’s real.”

“Dude sweats buckets for his goals. And I think the most polite way to put this next thought is: basically, you’ve either got to be willing to match that sweat, drop for drop — or get out of the way,” Herro further explained. “And Heat culture is a perfect fit for Jimmy, because now he’s leading an entire roster of guys who are all going to refuse to be outworked. Now he’s in this situation where it’s like..… Are we going to lose a game here and there? Yeah, maybe. But you’ll have to kill us first.”

Given the way Herro gets along with Butler, Miami will be the perfect place for the youngster’s growth. What better way to learn than under someone who would move heaven and hell to win?
