Paul George is currently the man to blame for the LA Clippers’ struggles against the Dallas Mavericks. After a strong performance in game one, George has disappeared over the last three games. The Mavericks have won two of those three games. Kawhi Leonard has averaged 33 points in the series, while George has averaged just about 15 points on horrible shooting.
ESPN Analyst Stephen A. Smith attacked George for disappearing in these games on First Take.
“I have called the police. I have put out an APB for Paul George. Last thee games, 14, 11 and 9. Yesterday he shot 21% from the field. For the series, he’s shooting like 29%, 22% from three. Paul George is a star who hasn’t shown up offensively the last three games. Considering the greatness I know he has, his performances have been downright offensive”

Smith would add, “You are there to help win a championship. You got Kawhi Leonard as a teammate. Lou Williams is doing his thing, Marcus Morris is no scrub, Montrezl Harrell is no scrub and you have an elite coaching staff.”
I have called the POLICE. I have put out an APB for @Yg_Trece!. This is what’s called for when you’re shootings less that 25% FG the last 3 games and folks are tweeting me, calling him “Pandemic P.” pic.twitter.com/1JnoqlSdyg

Paul George becoming Playoff P anytime soon?

Paul George is struggling in an uncharacteristic way. While his performances in the playoffs have come under scrutiny, he has never misfired to such an extent. He has made just 10 field goals this entire series on 43 shots. That is dreadful play from someone considered a superstar. However, everyone is relying on the PG we have seen in the last few years to come up and help Clippers avoid an upset to these dangerous Mavericks.

PG never made it out of the first round with the OKC Thunder and constantly ran into LeBron James during his days with the Indiana Pacers. He has been put in the best situation he could have gotten. He is an elite second-scoring option that can rely on Kawhi to be the outright star. However, he is failing to deliver even in that role.
PG’s struggles better evaporate in game five, as you could argue this misfiring is what has allowed Dallas to be this competitive in the series. If he can’t carry his load, the Mavericks may just upset the second-seeded Clippers in a year they are the favorites. Another first-round exit for George, and one where the blame would fall solely on him.
