A Point Guard in the game of basketball is like the protagonist of a film. The story revolves around him. Almost necessarily, point guards are great leaders (LeBron James being one unanimous example) as they’re the drivers of the game. These players possess amazing dribbling skills, accurate passing ability, expertise in space creation, and boast flash speed.
The two-time NBA Champion with the Detroit Pistons, Isiah Thomas, believes that it is not a given that every point guard will make an outstanding leader. They must have more of a character to lead the team, irrespective of the position at which they play.

James Harden and LeBron James- who else is among the best point guards in the NBA currently?
In an interview, Isiah Thomas (a point guard himself) spoke at length about the players he believes are the best guards. He revealed, “You gotta say [Chris] Paul, Curry, Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, James Harden, those guys, they’re in the class in elite level by themselves. ‘A’ because they can score the ball, but ‘B’ they show up every night, and ‘C’ there’s a demand from the audience of these guys I just named that you have to do more than just play basketball, you got to give me a show too.”
Hinting them as the ultimate showstoppers, Mr. Wonderful added, “Like the show that Steph Curry puts on before every game where he will just go out and shoot and the way he goes through his shooting routine, fans show up for his shooting routine. And he never disappoints, he comes on the road, he gives you the show, he gives you the joy, he’s playing. I truly admire what these young guys have done in the NBA and how they’re going about doing it in the creativity that they’re showing.”

He is very certainly a fan of GSW’s Stephen Curry, his style of play, and leading the team.
What makes these guys stand out?
These players set the pace for the game. They have an analytical mind and hence remain responsible for calling the plays. The team will make use of code words or gestures to signal a change in strategy, and these big guys will lead it from the front.

The aforementioned names are not just great at scoring consistently, they’re also good at defending. LeBron James might not be as good as Curry from the downtown, but his defensive abilities are stupendous. Similarly, James Harden is a scoring machine himself but also makes great passes to push others around him.
All these qualities make them the legends of the game.
