Damian Lillard had a strong playoff campaign. Even though he missed game five and saw his Portland team subjected to a gentleman’s sweep, Lillard proved a point in the bubble. His team was on the outside looking in. However, they covered a 3 and a half-game deficit to qualify for the playoffs. They scared the LA Lakers with an upset win in the first game. Despite that, they were resoundingly trounced in the next four games.
Lillard left the bubble early to take care of a knee injury. This has allowed him to reunited with his family. Damian Lillard has been known to be a strong family man, often speaking about his son Damian Jr. publicly. He posted a picture with Jr. after leaving the bubble. He announced more family news on Instagram, revealing that he and his fiance are expecting twins.
“I’m a DADDY DADDY now… happy for another boy but this girl gone hit different.”

Lillard was awarded the bubble MVP for his performances that willed Portland into the playoffs. However, that is a small accomplishment in Lillard’s illustrious career. The title he wants next to his name is ‘NBA Champion’, and all other accomplishments are just things to accumulate. Lillard has penned his loyalty to Portland for the long-term, but will Portland give him the tools he needs?
The makeup of their team is solid but unspectacular. Along with the fragility of their players, this group having major success together is a question mark. However, Damian will surely balance the burgeoning responsibilities of fatherhood along with success on the basketball court. If nothing else, he might be even more motivated.
