Luka Doncic has given a lot of people reason to be proud. Dallas Mavericks fans are proud of what he has done in just his second year, but no one can beat family. Luka Doncic shares a close relationship with his family, evidenced by his mother constantly posting about him on Instagram.
Doncic had a historic triple-double in game four against the LA Clippers. Not only was it the second-highest scoring playoff triple-double ever, but he also became the youngest player to record a 40-point triple-double in the playoffs. He scored an audacious buzzer-beater in OT to seal the win for the Mavs. Mavericks were down by 21 points at one point in the game.
The game is being lauded as one of the greatest individual performances we have ever seen. However, none of us can replicate what Luka Doncic’s mom feels. She said she hadn’t cried this much since Luka was born after seeing that shot. Hyperbole? Maybe. But the shot will become one of the best playoff highlights of all time.

Luka Doncic having a historic playoff debut
FROM ELIAS: Luka Doncic is the 2nd player in NBA history to lead both teams outright in points, rebounds and assists in a playoff game at 21 years or younger. He joins LeBron James, who did so in his very first playoff game on April 22, 2006 against the Wizards. pic.twitter.com/B7HOQLxrGu

This is literally the first NBA Playoff series Doncic has ever played. He is literally trying to single-handedly eliminate the title favorites in the first round. We have never seen any young player with this much of an impact on a team in a long time. You can even make an argument that Doncic is the greatest 21-year old we have seen, even ahead of LeBron James.
Doncic is breaking almost every ‘youngest’ playoff record, as well as records for playoff debuts. The magnitude of the play from this star couldn’t have been predicted by even the strongest Mavericks fans. He is averaging 31.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 9.8 assists so far in the series. The scoring numbers could have been even better if Luka didn’t have that injury in game three that made him sit almost the entire fourth quarter.

People keep arguing that Doncic may have peaked because of his years of high-level play in Europe, but he keeps proving everyone wrong. He is showing the ability to lead a team to an NBA title as a sophomore. If that isn’t unexpected, then I don’t know what is. The Mavs have a very very bright future because of this young man.
