Paul George is one of the most exciting players in the league. No one can deny that the former All-Star has a lot of talent. His game was on full display for the world to see when he was in Indiana, and he led the Pacers to push the Miami Heat. George was the driving force as the Indiana Pacers made things very difficult for the LeBron-led Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference.

George eventually left Indiana because he didn’t have enough support around him in the squad. On the All The Smoke podcast, George revealed that his time in Indiana was filled with trade rumors.

“My name came up in trade talks. So I had the front office meet me in New Orleans. It was All-Star Weekend in New Orleans. Chopped it up with them. My agent came down. What are these trade talks? Am I your guy or am I not? They were like ‘Nah we not moving you, you’re our future. You’re our centerpiece’.”

George talked about how, despite Indiana assuring him that he wasn’t up for trade, his name was still thrown around in trade rumors. This led to him losing confidence in the front office.

“Literally right before the trade deadline, my agent gets calls again. They said PG is on the market and the teams are having conversations. That was like strike two and strike three. All the other stuff was them moving pieces around me, that was my brothers… It’s cool; I’m not in the front office, its not my job, it’s their job. Just let me know, please…”

George also told Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson that he had a top-three power forward ready to join the Pacers and help them make the push to the Finals.

“Fast forward to the moment where we had this game. I got interviewed, still saying I want to be here, this is my home. That night, I said we had top-three power forward in the league that I was trying to get to come to Indy, he wanted to come. I bring it to the front office, they deaded it.”

George then revealed that the player was none other than his now-rival in Los Angeles, Anthony Davis. However, the organization chose not to bring him in. “It was AD (Anthony Davis). Me and AD talked. AD wanted to come to Indy. Close to Chicago, he said it was perfect, y’all got something going over there’. I brought it to the front office, they deaded it.”

While Davis and George never played together, they are now in the same city. The two play for the Lakers and the Clippers, two of the favorites to win the NBA championship. But one can only wonder how the duo would’ve worked together.
