The Brooklyn Nets have a terrific roster built to compete for the NBA championship next season. Moreover, they hired Steve Nash as the coach, which could very well be the final piece in the puzzle.

The two superstars, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, will lead the team from the front. Additionally, they had both been NBA champions prior to teaming up in Brooklyn. One might wonder, what is the expectation from the team next? Nash spoke about their expectations in a recent interview.

“We’re playing for a championship. I don’t want to say anything less than a championship is not a success because you never know what happens in life. You never know the way the ball rolls. Fortune is a big part of winning an NBA championship.

“But we are playing for a championship and are going to build accordingly, and we’re gonna frame everything do in the lense of ‘is this a championship characteristic or is this worth championship quality?’

“But other than that, are we growing? Are we striving? Are we pressure-testing? Are we continually asking of each other and ourselves that individual and collective growth every day and creating an environment that is fun, but challenging and collaborative?

“So, if those tenants are being met, there’s a lot of success and reward in that, but we are playing for a championship.”

Winning the NBA championship is the ultimate goal for any franchise in the league. The same goes for the Nets and they are well equipped with the tools to accomplish their goals. But will they be the next champions? Only time will tell.
