In trying times like these, when the world is in the middle of a global pandemic and people have been advised to stay quarantined, it can be difficult to stay sane. What better to keep one company than a little puppy! Celtics’ star Jayson Tatum recently adopted a month old puppy and named it after his idol and mentor, the late Kobe Bryant.
Kobe Bryant has a puppy named after him
The Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has always been vocal about his respect for the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant. Tatum has made it common knowledge that Bryant was the reason why he started playing basketball. So, when Bryant died earlier this year in an unexpected helicopter accident, it obviously affected Tatum deeply.

Talking about Bryant for the first time after his demise, Tatum said in a statement,
“To becoming a friend and mentor, somebody who I could talk to and help me out with a bunch of things, on and off the court. It’s been a tough couple of days.”
Tatum looked up to Bryant. According to him, his best memory was when he was able to spend time with Bryant. They also had a workout session together. Talking about the same, he had said that it was a dream come true for him.
Jayson Tatum was one of the few players who paid a tribute to Kobe in games against the LA Lakers. He wore a purple armband ahead of the Celtics’ matchup with the Lakers in February.
Now, as if to keep a piece of Kobe with him, Tatum has reportedly adopted a French bulldog and named him ‘Bean’! Bean was Kobe Bryant’s middle name. According to Boston Globe’s Nicole Yang, Tatum has adopted a four week old blue fawn French bulldog.

This little pup is sure to be a new friend for Jayson Tatum’s kid, as well as for the Celtics’ GM’s dog Weezy, who is also a French bulldog.
