When Jimmy Butler Tried to Mess With Former Chicago Bulls Teammate and Instantly Regretted

Dwyane Wade and Jimmy Butler are former teammates. Jimmy Butler had presented a request to leave Minnesota Timberwolves in 2018. He even said that if the trade does not take place, he will leave in free agency.

Miami Heat was his preferred team, according to Marc Stein from The New York Times. Stein tweeted,” The Heat have pursued Butler as aggressively as any of the 20-plus teams to inquire thus far but, like many, have found it hard to get Minnesota to clearly communicate. League sources say Miami is a team that strongly appeals to the free agent-to-be Butler after a trade”.

But before this, the once-Chicago Bulls‘ teammates, Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade, went through a bit of a rough patch in 2018.

Dwyane Wade’s wife, Gabrielle Union, had posted a poolside picture of herself on Instagram. This picture was from their Italy vacation.

Jimmy ended up commenting “WELL DAMN!!” on this post, which Dwyane could not overlook. He decided to show his displeasure by commenting on Butler’s most recent post. The post was a video of him working out on the beach. The caption of the post was “The good, the bad, and the ugly.” Columbia university’s basketball player, Mike Smith, was also tagged in this post. 

Dwyane commented, “Put well damn in caps on my wife photo again and you’re gonna see what the good, the bad and the ugly is like.” It was after this comment that Butler realized where he went wrong and wanted to tone down the situation with a light reply. 

He said, “Well that escalated quickly. Point noted.. I’m still coming to the BBQ tho.”

This BBQ reference is from a viral video from a Chicago Bulls’ victory against Detroit Pistons in 2016. A camera had caught Butler talking to someone from the crowd and then pointing towards Wade. This moment became an internet sensation. Since it looked like Jimmy was talking to a female from the crowd, the caption became, ” When Your Trying To Hook Up Your Boy With Girls At The Club.”

Sports reporter Kyle Neubeck posted the entire thread on twitter and said, “If Vegas doesn’t put odds on whether Wade and Butler fight next season why do sports books even exist.”

Gabrielle Union also responded to this thread on twitter “... crosses Jimmy off the BBQ list” joked Union.
