Some players are known for their speed, while some are known for their craftiness. Sacramento Kings star De’Aaron Fox prides in both. Tonight, against the Indiana Pacers, both of these qualities were on display.

After bringing the ball in from half court, Fox zipped past Malcolm Brogdon first. He then sent Justin Holiday the wrong way with a fake pass, before completing this brilliant play with a runner over Myles Turner. All three of those Pacers’ players are good defenders, but Fox made them look silly with just one phenomenal play.

Fox’s main strength on offense is his ability to drive to the rim. So this is a prime example of that. His speed makes him tough to defend, which is why defenders can’t often keep up with his drives.

The Kings started the season with an impressive 3-1 run. But in the next six games, they managed just one win. They lost their last two games against the Blazers and the Raptors. Tonight, they are battling the Pacers to avoid being embarrassed for the third game in a row.

Their hopes rest on Fox, who has been their leading scorer so far. But they will also be hoping he can step up in his efficiency, after averaging just 28% from three in the ten games they have played so far. He struggled from deep last season as well, so he needs to really put in the work to improve on this front.

While he is sharing the rock with another playmaker now in Tyrese Haliburton, Fox can do much better than just five assists per game. He has impressed with his playmaking ability in the last few seasons, so the Kings need him to step up in that department as well.

The Kings are chasing a playoff spot for the first time since 2006. They have been rebuilding for years now, but it has never seen an end-product yet. With Fox and co, they have some hope now. But they will need to be at their best to qualify for the playoffs in this crowded Western Conference.
