The Milwaukee Bucks are out of the NBA Playoffs. After a 4-1 win over the Magic, they were on the wrong end of another 4-1 series as the Heat eliminated the Bucks. This poor playoff run has put the future of Giannis Antetokounmpo in serious doubt.

But Lakers legend Magic Johnson has advised the ‘Greek Freak’ to figure out things with the owner and continue his stay in Milwaukee.

Magic spent his entire playing career with just one team, the Lakers. In an era where player moves are inevitable, he wants Giannis to do what others couldn’t: Stay with the franchise that drafted him and bring them a title.

Will Giannis stay or look for greener pastures?

After being drafted with the 15th overall pick in 2013, Giannis has led the Bucks from being a mediocre team to being the best team in the league. But sadly, this form had never translated into the Playoffs. Last year, they lost 2-4 to the Toronto Raptors during the Conference Finals. This season, they weren’t even able to reach that stage.

The Bucks tried to build around him, but it has been unsuccessful so far. Their decision to keep Eric Bledsoe over Malcolm Brogdon, giving the full max to Khris Middleton, and killing their cap space are some front office decisions that cost them.

On the court, not playing Giannis for over 35 minutes in must-win playoff games even when he was willing to, was a disastrous decision by coach Mike Budenholzer. His tactics were completely outsmarted by Heat’s coach, Erik Spoelstra.

Earlier there were talks about him leaving in the 2021 Free Agency. But after this successive playoff debacle, rumors of him leaving via trade have come up. The Warriors, Clippers, and the Raptors are some interested teams.

Giannis had recently issued a statement that he is going to stay, but no one seems to believe him. At 25, he still hasn’t fully entered his prime and has already won two MVPs. He has plenty of time on his hands to try to create his own legacy at Milwaukee. But if he grows impatient with this stagnant franchise, he could be on his way to seek championships elsewhere.
