James Harden’s commitment to the Brooklyn Nets has been questioned after only 76 games. The Nets paid up a lot of assets to bring James Harden to town in late 2020. They expected that his presence would help the team win a championship. However, since his arrival, the franchise’s situation has only gotten more difficult.
At the end of this season, Harden will be an unrestricted free agent. A player of his caliber will be an extremely sought out asset. He is going to generate a lot of interest all over the market. However, it has come to attention that the 76ers have a huge interest in signing Harden.
REPORT: A league source says “the reigning thought process throughout the league is that James Harden will be a Sixer next season.”

Ben Simmons has been a huge pain for the 76ers franchise. He has not played a single game and has racked up millions in terms of fines. Everyone expects the Sixers to trade Ben Simmons before the deadline. However, the Sixers prefer to keep Simmons past the deadline. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, they want to make an attempt to sign and trade Harden in the offseason.

Harden chose the Nets over the 76ers last season. However, a change of heart seems possible.
What are the chances that the Sixers land James Harden next season?
A recent update has come on account of Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer. Keith cited a source from NBA which said the following.
“The reigning thought process throughout the league is Harden will be a Sixer next season.”
Pompey’s report also features a note on the strong relationship between Daryl Morey and James Harden. Morey, the current president of 76ers, shared 8 years with Harden in the Rockets. A source further told Pompey that Harden would welcome the opportunity to play alongside Joel Embiid if he “ever became a sixer”.

Joel Embiid is currently in his prime. He is playing at an MVP level caliber. His prime years are going to waste because the other players on the team cannot perform as well, and Ben Simmons refuses to play. The Sixers management wants to maximize Embiid’s output over the next few seasons. Their goal isn’t just to be content this season.
The Sixers front office wants to wait patiently and create a championship team over the next few seasons. Sixers only get a single chance to trade Simmons, and they cannot afford to screw this trade up. Swapping Ben Simmons before the trade deadline could take the Harden deal off the table. Patients should always be preferred over panic.
