The Philadelphia 76ers continued their unparalleled in the Eastern Conference tonight. They edged out the Bulls by seven points, after a masterclass by MVP-candidate Joel Embiid.

The Cameroonian star had a huge 50 point game to lead the 76ers in Ben Simmons’ absence. The Bulls were relentless from the start, but Embiid was equally determined.

He became the first 76ers player to score 50 points since Allen Iverson. The 2001 MVP dropped 50 points during a loss against the Hawks back in 2003.

Embiid is easily the best player the 76ers have seen since Iverson, and this record is an embodiment of that. Tonight, they needed him to step up since Simmons was out.

He stuffed the stat sheet tonight, and along with his 50 points, he had 17 rebounds, five assists, two steals, and four blocks as well. He also shot efficiently from the field, going 17-26 from the field, and 15-17 from the free-throw line.

Teammate Tobias Harris has the highest of praises for Joel Embiid

Following their win tonight, teammate Tobias Harris had a lot of praise for Embiid. He said, “I’ll tell my kids one day I played with Joel Embiid. When they’ll ask me who is the best player I ever played with, I’ll say Joel Embiid. It’s an honor to be out there with him on the floor.”

From the start of the season, they have been heavily dependent on him, and he has delivered every time. He is currently averaging 30.5 points, 11 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game this season.

If the 76ers end the season as the number one seed, he should arguably be the favorite for the MVP. He will emulate Iverson once again if that happens since AI was the last 76ers player to win it.

After averaging 27 points per game in 2018-19, Embiid took a step back last season. He went down to 23 points per game while dealing with injuries. But with the arrival of new coach Doc Rivers, who has made him the centerpiece of their offense, Embiid has become a total beast.

After multiple playoff failures, Embiid will be keen to replicate this form during the postseason. He had a great individual performance in the playoffs last season, but the 76ers still got swept in the first round. His aim will be to change that and help the 76ers win their first title since 1983.
